Investment Blogs

The purpose of my investment blogs is to show investors how to think about investments. Poor investment decisions are a product of faulty thinking. Underlying these poor decisions are:

  1. System: Poor organisation
  2. Thinking: Poor thought process
  3. Feedback: Poor accountability measures

This group of blogs will investigate ways in which investors can conduct their investment activities more effectively. One of the challenges of being an investor is that you are often on your own, struggling to comprehend a lot of market information. We will show you how you can trade and invest more effectively.

I am not interested in ‘safe’ investments. I am interested in investments which offer the greatest return. To that end, risk is managed, not avoided. The secret is to grow at your natural rate – which will be a trajectory that keeps you free from boredom and fear. In truth your path will weave its way somewhere between these points. You will be surprised just how invalid the financial theory that ‘risk is inversely related to returns’ actually is. Returns correlate with knowledge, which often means the more specialised the activity, the less people understand, the more money you can make. In truth there are a great many factors that can determine your profitability.

In 2000 no one understood platinum, which paved the way for investors to make 3200% return on Aquarius Platinum. In 2003, no one understood the uranium market, which paved the way for exceptional gains on Paladin Resources. In 2004-07, no one understood coal seam methane, which paved the way for huge gains on Qld Gas Co and Arrow Energy. Looking forward, no one understands the carbon credits mechanism. Expect huge gains on the carbon credits trading exchanges.
